    Action-Learning Projects Review

Barry University Graduate Students present their projects for review to a special panel of training experts

Join us on March 1st for multiple presentations from graduate students of Barry University.

The graduate students are from the Master of Science in Organizational Learning and Leadership program at Barry University; a program that teaches student to draw from work/life experiences to analyze organizational communication, apply systems thinking and plan strategic team based learning interventions. Using a “performance through learning” approach, this degree develops students’ ability to think analytically and to lead change in increasingly global and complex environments. In the past, graduates of this program have moved onto learning roles at numerous organizations, including AT&T, General Motors Corporation, Bank of America, education and non-profits.

The purpose of the project was to hone students’ skills by

    • Engaging with a local organization
    • Assessing and analyzing its training needs
    • Creating a training proposal for that organization that adheres to the ADDIE model of instructional design

The students were challenged to think through the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a training program based on the detailed assessment and analysis of an organization’s training needs.

Each student will present their action-learning projects in the Human Resource Development Theory and Practice course to the panel of seasoned Training and Development and Organization Development consultants at our March meeting.  The panel will give feedback and commentary. The audience will also be invited to pass comment and suggestion.

    Panel Feedback

The panel is a unique opportunity for the students to obtain valuable feedback, reflection, and insights from seasoned professionals as well as to celebrate collaboration and success. The student/consultant exchange enhances the quality of service learning and illuminates the meaningful work of Human Resource Development and Organization Development professionals.

Note that this is not a competition, but an opportunity for students to get tangible feedback from experts who have been either designing, creating, delivering, or leveraging industry-specific training for many years.

    About Your Host

The host for the evening is Professor Katya Matusevich, PhD. Ms Matusevich holds a doctorate from Barry in Leadership and Education, with a specialization in Human Resource Development.
